About the Traffic Officer Learnership Programme
The Traffic Officer Learnership is designed to equip unemployed young people with the knowledge, practical experience, and professional skills needed to work within South Africa’s traffic law enforcement environment.
The programme combines intensive classroom instruction with practical field training at the Traffic College. Successful learners will receive comprehensive occupational training in traffic policing, public safety, and road traffic management.
This is a physically demanding programme that requires commitment, discipline, and excellent physical fitness throughout the 12-month training period.
Traffic Officer Learnership Stipend
Successful learners will receive a stipend of:
R70,383 per annum
The stipend is intended to provide financial assistance while participants complete the training programme.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) qualification recognised by SAQA
- South African citizen
- Between 18 and 35 years of age
- Valid driver’s licence
- No criminal record
- No visible tattoos
- Medically fit
- Mentally fit
- Physically fit to complete strenuous training
- Must not have been declared unfit to possess a firearm under the Firearms Control Act or any related legislation
Failure to meet any of these requirements may result in disqualification.
