Knowledge and Skills Required
Applicants should have knowledge of:
- Access control procedures.
- Security legislation and policies.
- Protection of Information Act.
- Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS).
- National Industrial Security Academy (NISA) principles.
- Emergency procedures.
- Security equipment and surveillance procedures.
- Control of equipment and government property.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Controlling access to government premises in accordance with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act, 1985 (Act No. 53 of 1985).
- Verifying the identity of employees, visitors and contractors.
- Registering visitors and issuing access cards.
- Conducting electronic searches where required.
- Confirming appointments with host officials before granting access.
- Monitoring contractors and visitors while on SAPS premises.
- Inspecting deliveries, equipment and goods entering or leaving facilities.
- Conducting security patrols around buildings and fenced areas.
- Guarding government vehicles and equipment.
- Inspecting security systems and equipment.
- Reporting security breaches and incidents to senior security personnel.
- Maintaining accurate security records and registers.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be proficient in English and at least one other official language.
- Possess a Grade 10 / Standard 8 / NCV Level 2 (NQF Level 2 recognised by SAQA) qualification.
- Hold a valid Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) registration.
- Be in possession of a Grade C Security Certificate or higher.
- Not be declared unfit to possess a firearm.
- Be willing to undergo firearm competency training and maintain competency.
- Be willing to work shifts, weekends and extended hours.
