The Discovery Internship Programme is a structured 12-month development programme designed for unemployed graduates seeking practical workplace experience. Launched in 2006, the programme has supported the career growth of over 480 graduates, with an impressive 71% placement rate into permanent roles upon completion.
Interns are placed within high-performing teams and gain hands-on exposure to real business operations, helping them develop professional, technical, and interpersonal skills required to succeed in fast-paced corporate environments.
Internship Programme – Group Life Operations
Successful candidates will gain practical exposure within the Group Life Operations team, supporting essential administrative and operational functions. Interns will rotate across various operational areas, including:
- Underwriting processes
- Group Employee Benefits (GEP) administration
- Lump sum claims processing
- Billing and contributions
- Disability management
- Back-office operational support
This internship offers valuable insight into group life insurance operations, while allowing interns to contribute to service excellence, accuracy, and operational efficiency.

1. Internship Programme – Group Life
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12 (essential)
- BCom Degree or Honours
- No work experience required (essential)
- Aged between 18 and 30 years
- South African citizen by birth or naturalisation before 27 April 1994
2. Internship – Service Consultant
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12 (essential)
- Minimum of 2 years call centre experience
- At least 1 year experience in the financial services industry
- Experience within a LISP (advantageous)
- Related BCom degree (advantageous)
- Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office
3. Internship – Servicing Administrator
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric certificate
- Minimum 2 years LISP (Linked Investment Service Provider) experience
- Knowledge of the Long-Term Insurance Act
- Understanding of the Pension Funds Act, including Section 14 and Section 50 transfers
- Knowledge of retirement products
- LISP administration experience (essential)
