Transnet South Africa invites all suitable unemployed individuals to apply for Artisan In Training Programme (Apprenticeships) 2026 / 2027

Purpose

The Artisan In Training Programme aims to provide recently  qualified apprentices with practical work experience, allowing them to apply their academic and vocational or practical knowledge in a real-world environment. This Programme is designed to enhance participants’ employability by  offering hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to industry-specific tasks. The Artisan In Training Programme is conducted over a period of 24 months.

Expected outcome is the ability to plan and prepare work site, equipment, tools, consumables and materials for trade related activities and operations, use hand, power and measuring tools, install, assemble, fit, connect electrical equipment and control systems. Test, inspect, commission, maintain and repair electrical equipment, control systems, installations, assemblies etc.

Minimum Requirements

  • Completed either of the following:
  1. N2 -N6 Certificate with the following subjects: relevant Trade Theory, Engineering Science, Mathematics and any other relevant subject.
  2. Or NCV Level 4 certificate with the relevant trade theory, Mathematics, and vocational subjects,
  3. Or Technical grade 12: Mathematics , Physical Science, and relevant trade theory.
  • Must have passed Mathematics, with 50% and above.
  • Attach all qualifications and academic record (relevant to the position).
  • Age between 18 and 30.
  • Must be a South African Citizen.

NB. Must Not have a trade certificate (Red Seal).
