About the MSC Learnership 2026

MSC is inviting committed and unemployed South African youth to participate in its comprehensive learnership programme designed to develop future professionals within the maritime and logistics sector.

The programme combines classroom-based learning with practical workplace experience, giving learners exposure to real-world operations within one of the world’s leading shipping and logistics companies.

Monthly Stipend

R4,000 per month

Participants will also have their study costs fully covered by MSC.

Learnership Structure

The MSC Learnership Programme consists of three phases, with each phase running for 12 months.

Phase 1

National Certificate in International Trade

Phase 2

National Certificate in Freight Forwarding and Customs Compliance

Phase 3

Further Education and Training Certificate in Shipping

Learners are required to complete all three phases consecutively and at the same MSC location.

Upon successful completion of each phase, participants will receive a nationally recognised qualification along with practical industry experience.

Annual Bonus Opportunity

Minimum Requirements

  • Completed Matric or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of 60% for Mathematics Literacy
  • Minimum of 50% for Mathematics
  • Must be computer literate
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications including:
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft Outlook
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Must be younger than 25 years old
  • Must be able to travel to and from MSC operating sites at own cost
  • Must not be studying full-time or part-time
  • Previous work experience is required
