Platinum

Our Platinum business mines, processes and refines the entire range of platinum group metals (PGMs): platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium and osmium. We are the world’s leading primary producer of PGMs, which have a range of specialised applications that improve lives across the world, from vehicle fuel cells to jewellery; dentistry to glassmaking; pacemakers to petroleum refining.

As an Electrician your role will be to maintain, install and commission the electrical components of the machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility.

Below are some key responsibilities:

• Conduct and participate in risk assessments
• Attend to breakdowns and emergencies as required
• Ensure that material, spares and equipment are available as required
• Comply to environmental requirements and maintain high quality of work
• Exercise judgment with regards to replacement of components and record results of all legal examinations in the appropriate format
• Complete job cards, description of work and spares used

This role is in the Engineering department at a C2 level reporting to the Engineering Foreman.

Qualifications:

You will need:

• Matric (Grade 12) or N3 equivalent
• Electrical Trade certificate
• N3 Electrical engineering heavy current – advantageous

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years as Electrician – advantageous
• Medium Voltage (MV) switching – experience (advantageous)

Additional Requirements:

• Must be able to do standby shifts and overtime
• Must be familiar with risk assessments procedures
• Valid Driver’s license- Code 08 – advantageous
• Good command of the English language (speak, read and write)
• Basic Computer Skills
