What is the YES Initiative?
The Youth Employment Service (YES) Initiative is a Presidency-led programme designed to tackle youth unemployment by creating work opportunities for young South Africans.
The programme enables participating companies to provide work experience that helps young people improve their employability and gain practical workplace skills.
Programme Duration
Successful applicants will be employed on a:
12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
During this period, participants will receive practical exposure to different operational and administrative functions within the business.
Key Responsibilities
Participants in the Solareff YES Programme will assist with a variety of daily business operations, including:
Administrative Support
- Providing administrative support to assigned departments
- Assisting with data capturing and record management
- Managing documents and filing systems
- Updating company records and databases
Operational Support
- Supporting daily departmental activities
- Assisting with inventory and stock management
- Helping coordinate resources and operational tasks
- Assisting with warehouse-related activities where applicable
Customer and Stakeholder Support
- Responding to customer and supplier enquiries
- Supporting internal stakeholder communication
- Assisting with general business correspondence
Reporting and Documentation
- Preparing reports and schedules
- Maintaining departmental documentation
- Supporting project administration activities
Workplace Development
- Participating in training sessions
- Attending team meetings
- Learning through mentorship and practical experience

Computer Skills
Applicants should be proficient in:

YES Programme Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must also satisfy the YES Initiative requirements:
- Must not have been permanently employed by one employer for more than one year
- Must not be studying full-time during the programme period
- Must never have participated in the YES Programme before
- Must not currently be registered on the YES Initiative
Failure to meet these requirements may result in disqualification.
