ANC passes the million-vote mark
As election results near the 20% completion mark, the ruling African National Congress (ANC) celebrates a preliminary milestone. Shortly after daybreak, the Electoral Commission had made its way through 19.44% of all votes, with results for the ANC standing at:
Nationally:
ANC has 54.20% support with 1 171 934 votes.
ANC standings, provincially:
- Eastern Cape: 69.23% support with 307 170 votes
- Free State: 59.30% support with 62 946 votes
- Gauteng: 52.30% support with 143 253 votes
- KwaZulu-Natal: 53.86% support with 82 273 votes
- Limpopo: 72.34% support with 65 418 votes
- Mpumalanga: 66.30% support with 130 316 votes
- North West: 61.08% support with 103 023 votes
- Western Cape: 26.23% support with 138 628 votes
- Northern Cape: 52.01% support with 99 660 votes
