Ivanplats (Pty) Ltd is a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines and is developing one of the world’s largest palladium, rhodium, nickel, copper, and gold mining projects near Mokopane in Limpopo Province.
The mine is designed as a modern, mechanised underground operation using advanced technology and innovative mining methods, making it one of South Africa’s leading “mine of the future” projects.
Available Artisan Learnership Disciplines
Successful applicants will be enrolled in one of the following artisan trades:
- Auto Electrician
- Boilermaker
- Diesel Mechanic
- Fitter & Turner
- Instrumentation
- Mechanical Fitter
- Millwright
- Rigger
These programmes combine theoretical learning with practical workplace training to prepare learners for a recognised trade qualification.
Learnership Duration
Successful candidates will participate in the programme for:
- Up to 3 years, or
- Until they obtain their Trade Qualification, whichever comes first.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Ivanplats Artisan Learnership Programme, applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Mathematics passed with at least 60%
- Physical Science passed with at least 60%
- N2 qualification in a relevant Engineering field
Additional Requirements
Applicants must be willing and able to:
- Work both underground and on surface in mining operations
- Successfully complete a medical fitness examination
- Undergo the required capability assessments
