The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has announced the recruitment of 98 Immigration Officer: Inspectorate positions across Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, and North West provinces. Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Enforcing the Immigration Act, 2002 and related legislation
  • Detecting, tracing, detaining and prosecuting illegal foreigners
  • Processing deportations and detention warrants
  • Conducting inspections and investigations
  • Participating in law enforcement operations with security agencies
  • Preparing evidence and statements for court proceedings
  • Monitoring foreigners residing in South Africa without legal documentation
  • Issuing notices and admission of guilt fines to transgressors
  • Participating in anti-corruption investigations
  • Conducting arrests and deportations of illegal foreigners
  • Ensuring compliance with permit conditions
  • Managing departmental records, assets and resources
  • Participating in training and professional development programmes

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • An undergraduate qualification at NQF Level 6 recognised by SAQA in one of the following fields:

  • Basic understanding of:
    • The Immigration Act
    • The Refugees Act
    • The South African Constitution
    • Public Service Regulatory Framework
  • A valid driver’s licence (Code B/C1/C/EC1)
  • A valid Public Driver Permit (PDP)
  • Willingness to travel outside South Africa’s borders and work extended hours.
