Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide financial support services to the Energy and Electricity Business Unit. The successful candidate will assist with budget preparation, financial monitoring, reporting, and SAP financial administration to ensure efficient financial management within the department.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Finance Support Officer will perform several financial management and administrative functions, including:
Budget and Financial Planning
- Assist with compiling the new financial year capital and operational budgets
- Prepare reports on budget deviations
Financial Monitoring and Compliance
- Conduct audits on pre-determined problem areas related to payments and expenditure
- Ensure that fraudulent financial activities are prevented
- Monitor spending against allocated budgets
Financial Administration
- Process fund transfers between general ledgers and work breakdown structures
- Prepare and process journal entries to correct incorrectly captured transactions
- Conduct departmental SAP financial administration, including: Reservations, Requisitions, Service entries, Goods receipts
Team Supervision

Supervise subordinate staff

Carry out instructions from senior management to ensure effective financial support services.

Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the City of Tshwane Finance Support Officer vacancy, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A three-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma or Degree) in: Accounting, Financial Management Or another relevant finance-related field
- At least three years of experience in financial management
- Supervisory experience will be an added advantage
- A valid Code B driver’s licence
- Computer literacy
- SAP system proficiency
