About the Programme
The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) is recruiting 200 new Metro Police Trainees to undergo an 18-month training programme. This entry-level opportunity is open to applicants from all races, genders, and especially encourages persons with disabilities and underrepresented groups to apply.
Stipend
A monthly stipend will be provided (amount determined by the department).
Duties of a Metro Police Officer:
Upon successful completion of the programme, trainees will be deployed to perform key municipal policing roles including:
- Traffic law enforcement (National Road Traffic Act)
- By-law enforcement
- Crime prevention
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate (must be submitted as proof).
- Manual driver’s licence (you will be tested on this).
- No criminal record or pending cases.
- Must reside within the City of Tshwane (proof of residence and affidavit required).
- Age between 18 and 35 years.
- Medically fit (provide a valid medical certificate).
- Must pass a physical fitness test, psychometric assessment, and an English proficiency test.
- No visible tattoos when in uniform.
- Must not be listed on any sexual or child offender registers.
- Must not have been dismissed for misconduct from a government job.
